Polyoxometalates functioned as ligands: Synthesis and crystal structure of a new hybrid compound constructed from metatungstate and metal complex units

A new organic–inorganic hybrid compound, [Zn(bpy)3]1.5[H3W12O40Zn(bpy)2(H2O)] 0.5H2O (bpy = 2,20bipyridine) has been synthesized hydrothermally from ZnCl2, Na6[H2W12O40], and 2,20-bipyridine, and has been analyzed using X-ray crystallography, thermogravimetric analysis and UV–Vis spectroscopy. The compound contains an anionic complex [H3W12O40Zn(bpy)2(H2O)] 3 in which a-metatungstate ion [H3W12O40] coordinated to a [Zn(bpy)2(H2O)] unit through a bridging oxo group. 2009 Elsevier B.V.
